How It Works
Pottery Painting
1. Select a Piece
Choose from our wide selection of over 400 pre-fired bisque items! Ranging in price from $5 to $100 we have plates, bowls, mugs, vases, banks, boxes, animals and many seasonal items. No reservations needed - just walk-in and paint!
Take a look at the examples around the studio or in our Idea Gallery. We will show you techniques with brushes, stamps, stencils, tracing paper and sponges.
3. Select your Colors
We have a large selection of underglaze colors as well as specialty Fleckle and Bumpy glazes to choose from. All of our glazes are non-toxic and food safe - and are water based so they clean out of clothes easily (just in case)!
Paint it the way you want it! We are here to help you with tips and advice so ask our expert staff any questions!
After your project dries overnight we will dip it in a clear overglaze and fire it one of our kilns.
6. Ready for Pick-upIt takes about a week to complete the entire process, but on the day you complete your project, we will let you know when it will be ready for pick-up. Once fired, the piece is completely food safe and if treated like fine china, will last a lifetime!
Glass Fusing and Slumping
1. Choose a Base
Select either a square or round piece of glass from 4" to 12" across as the base of your project. We stock clear, white and black bases, but may have other colors as well at the time you come in.
Choose from a wide variety of bits, strips, noodles, stringers, pebbles, frit, cut-ups or other pieces of colored glass. Many are already pre-cut but we will show you how to cut glass if you wish to make more elaborate designs.
3. Glue down your designTake the elements you have chosen and use our special glue that fires off clear but allows us to move your project to the kiln without fear of elements sliding off!
4. Fusing the project
We will heat up your creation to 1480 degrees for a "full fuse" so that all the glass becomes molten and forms together into one piece. Once fused, it will be flat and can used as a coaster, wall hanging or sun catcher.
If you want your creation turned into a bowl or plate, choose your shape from our slumping molds and we will re-fire it into the shape chosen by letting heat and gravity do the work.
6. Ready for Pick-up
The process time for glass depends on your project and could be ready within a week or as long as two. We will call you when your glass piece is ready for pick-up.
Here is an example of our Spider Web bowl being designed, cut, fused and slumped.
Jewelry
1. Choose a Base
Select either a square, round or abstract piece of glass up to 2" for your pendant, earrings, key chain or magnet.
2. Select your Design Elements
Find other pieces of glass elements to add on top - including dichroic glass for a small extra cost. We have many samples of designs as well as examples of how the glass reacts in size when heated.
3. Glue down your design
Use our special glue to get your jewelry design set just they way you want it and let us know where you want the bail to be set.
4. Fusing the pendant
We will fuse your pendant (earrings, pin, key chain, magnet...) in our glass kiln at the proper temperature for your piece.
5. Ready for Pick-up
We attach the bail and call you to pick up your masterpiece!
Let our expert staff show you how easy it is to be an artist!
We have tips and techniques that will you will love!
