Your Pottery Images

Create memories by adding your favorite photos to any bisque piece. You supply a digital image and we print it on special paper that will permanently fuse to your painted pottery. Family, friends, pets, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, holidays - whatever the occasion, there is a tile, plate, mug or platter that is waiting to be painted and finished with a photo or image of your choice.

 

How It Works

Choose an image that you wish to display. Pick your pottery piece and place a piece of contact paper over the area where you would like your image to be. Paint your piece any way you wish. We will then glaze, fill in the open area with white color and fire your piece. When it comes out of the kiln the first time, we will place your image over the open area that you selected. Your piece will go in the kiln a second time to fuse your image permanently.

Pick an image that you wish to be fused to the bisque and crop it the way you want. In your image editor (MS Picture Manager, Photoshop, etc.) resize your image to the height and width you want at 300 dpi.

In Photoshop, do this by opening your image then selecting Image > Resize > Image Size > width = X inch; height = X inch; resolution = 300 pixels/inch. If you want the photo's proportions to stay the same, be sure that you have the 'Constrain Proportions' box checked.

The X for width and height will vary depending on what size image you desire and what piece it is going on.

Go to 'File > Save As' and give the image a file name. Select JPG as the 'Format', select 'Save' and you are done.

Once you have it sized properly, email the JPG photo to us at photos@TheCeramicStudioEtc.com and we will have it ready to print when you come in to paint!

 

The Cost

The cost of Your Pottery Images is easy to determine. First it is the cost of the pottery piece you choose. Then the photo paper is $12 for up to a half page (8.5"x5.5") or $24 for a full letter size page.

Since the item must be fired twice, there is a re-firing fee that is equal to 25% of the bisque price. Add these together plus tax to get your final cost.

For example if you want to place a 4"x6" image of your wedding picture on a plate, the price is $12 for the photo, $20 for an 11" round rimmed dinner plate and $4.50 for the re-firing fee...or $37 plus tax for the total.

If we need to do any computer work to your file like scanning or resizing, there will be an additional $5 computer fee.

 

Timing

Since the bisque goes through two kiln runs, it will take longer than normal. All of our pieces are returned in about a week, so Your Pottery Images will take closer to 2 weeks. We will call you as soon as they are finished!
